Circle of Sound: A deep relaxing and healing experience

Circle of Sound: A deep relaxing and healing experience

Location: Breathing Room Yoga & Movement Studio, 146 Ocean Street, South Portland, Maine

Cost: $45 (sliding scale available, see below)

Program Description:

Join us for a monthly Circle of Sound.

You will be guided through a short meditation combined with mindful breathing and body scanning. As the mind and body relax, the heart rate and blood pressure decrease and our breathing becomes deeper. It is in this state that deep healing can occur. The meditation will include and be followed by a sound bath, which can reduce stress and anxiety by inducing a state of relaxation. The combination of multiple sound healing instruments include a gong, Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, crystal bowls and other healing instruments to create a beautiful journey for your mind, body and soul.

All you need to do is arrive and relax into a comfortable position. All props available at the studio for additional warmth and comfort. Bring a journal and a pen if you’d like.

We will start promptly at 1130, please arrive about 10 minutes ahead of time to settle in. We will end promptly by 1245p, however you are welcome to stay in the space longer. We recommend taking about 15 extra minutes for journaling or a little space to mindfully return to the rest of your day.

What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a deeply immersive, full body listening experience that uses various sound tools including gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, crystal bowls and other healing instruments to stimulate therapeutic and restorative healing for the mind, body, and spirit. A sound bath can recalibrate the body, turning off the sympathetic nervous system — which is best known for its role in responding to dangerous or stressful situations — and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, which is how bodies naturally repair and heal. The idea is to “bathe” in waves of sound to balance and unblock the body’s energy centers.

What are the benefits of a sound bath?

  • May reduce stress and anxiety

  • May improve sleep and deepen relaxation

  • May boost energy, clarity and focus

  • Can reduce physical pain as sound vibrations penetrate deep into the body

And so much more as each person responds differently to sound!

Payment agreement and scholarships

Conscious Revolution is a Benefit Corporation and a Certified B Corp. Your financial support is making an impact.

Most programs have a set fee. In the case of sliding scale programs, we ask you to consider: What is the right amount for you? What are your financial means? Can you offer more so another person can join offerings in the Conscious Leadership Community? The majority of the program fee goes to paying facilitators to compensate for their contributions. Excess funds, if any, support making our future programs and events accessible to all those who would like to attend regardless of their ability to pay.

We do not want anyone to be turned away due to lack of resources and we intend for our offerings to be accessible to all leaders. We are also committed to fostering a community that is diverse and balanced. Need-based scholarships are typically reserved for BIPOC, LGBTQ+ folks and applicants from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

We do our best to find agreeable solutions for all, and though we cannot accommodate every request, we will always do our best, so please let us know what you may need.
